A SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION TO THE "CSOs FOR A MORE INCLUSIVE, TRANSPARENT, AND GREEN ECONOMIC REFORM PROGRAM" TRAININGS

In a significant stride towards fostering inclusivity, transparency, and sustainability in Montenegro's Economic Reform Program (ERP), the Institute for Strategic Studies and Prognoses (ISSP) successfully concluded a series of six trainings titled "CSOs for a more inclusive, transparent, and green ERP." This initiative aimed to actively involve Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in shaping the future of Montenegro's economic policies, particularly in the context of the country's accession to the European Union.

Understanding the Importance of ERP

The ERP holds a pivotal role in Montenegro's EU accession process, serving as a comprehensive document guiding macroeconomic, fiscal, and structural reforms. However, the lack of CSO involvement in the proposal, management, and monitoring of the ERP was acknowledged by both the European Commission and the Government of Montenegro. Recognizing this gap, ISSP designed a series of training sessions to educate and empower CSOs to actively contribute to the development and implementation of the ERP.

The Training Program

The training sessions were conducted in six Montenegrin municipalities, providing participants with valuable insights into the structure of the ERP and the roles of various stakeholders. The practical aspects of the training allowed CSOs to explore ways in which they could influence the ERP to better address the needs of both CSOs and Montenegrin citizens. The emphasis was on making the program more inclusive, transparent, and environmentally sustainable.

The schedule for the training sessions was as follows:
- Cetinje: May 18 and 19, 2023
- Nikšić: June 1 and 2, 2023
- Ulcinj: June 5 and 6, 2023
- Tivat: July 3 and 4, 2023
- Berane: July 6 and 7, 2023
- Pljevlja: July 11 and 12, 2023

Recognizing Success

The trainings received positive feedback, indicating that CSOs recognized the significance of their involvement in the ERP. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the ERP's methodology, their roles within it, and the crucial importance of CSO participation in driving successful reform processes and European integration.

In conclusion, the "CSOs for a more inclusive, transparent, and green ERP" trainings have not only contributed to enhancing the capacities of CSOs but has also laid the groundwork for a more collaborative and informed approach to economic reforms in Montenegro. The training sessions have fostered a sense of empowerment and responsibility among CSOs, ensuring that their voices continue to shape the economic future of the country.
