ISSP AT EUROPEAN CENTRE CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL PROTECTION AND INCLUSION

Our director, Jadranka Kaludjerovic, took part in the 50th-anniversary conference of the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research in Vienna, a pivotal event that explored the future of social policies amid global transformations. The two-day conference, held on September 26-27, 2024, brought together experts from various sectors to discuss the impact of aging, digitalization, and climate change on social protection systems across Europe.

The session on Social Protection and Inclusion, where Jadranka was a participant, focused on the urgent need to adapt social policies to meet the complex challenges of contemporary society. The session covered key areas such as social assistance, disability support, housing, and child welfare, and how they can be integrated to form a more holistic and inclusive social safety net. The aim was to address the growing inequality gaps and ensure that vulnerable groups—such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and those affected by poverty—are not left behind in an era of rapid societal change.

Discussions highlighted the need for governments to rethink traditional social protection frameworks to account for new risks such as climate displacement and digital exclusion. Kaludjerovic stressed the importance of a coordinated policy approach, particularly in regions like Montenegro, where comprehensive social safety nets are critical to addressing these evolving challenges. Her contributions underlined the importance of evidence-based policies that promote social inclusion and protect the most vulnerable members of society, emphasizing that collaboration between countries and institutions is crucial for creating sustainable social protection systems.

Jadranka’s active participation reinforced ISSP’s role in advocating for strong, inclusive social welfare policies, aligning with the organization's vision to support social and economic development in Montenegro and the broader region.
