We are proud of our young economists who, for the very first time, represented Montenegro at the international finals of the Economics Olympiad, held from 21 to 24 August at the prestigious International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, Greece – the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
This global competition gathered 130 students from 28 countries, and Montenegro had five representatives, selected at the national finals in Podgorica.
We sincerely thank our partners – the Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI) and the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) – for their support, as well as all school coordinators and teachers who contributed to the successful preparation of the students.
At ISSP, we are especially proud of our finalists for their effort, curiosity, and commitment. The Olympiad was an opportunity for learning, exchanging ideas, and exploring economics beyond the classroom, while also connecting with peers from all over the world.
Although our team did not bring home medals, the experience left a lasting impact on all participants and further motivated them to continue learning, improving, and supporting future generations of Montenegrin students at the Olympiad.
Andrea Čičarević:
“This experience brought me so much – from new knowledge and skills to friendships and invaluable memories that I will carry with me in the future… I feel additionally motivated and I am looking forward to applying again for the school competition.”
Natalija Kovačević:
“It’s true that we did not bring home a medal, but we gained something perhaps even more valuable – extra motivation and a clear picture of how much more we can and must improve.”
Ivana Jeremić:
“The Olympiad experience and the memories are priceless… I believe our passion and interest in economics – and the Olympiad itself – have never been stronger.”
The Economics Olympiad in Montenegro is part of a wider project aimed at strengthening economic and financial literacy among young people. We believe that the experience of this year’s finalists will inspire new generations of students to take part and become part of future Olympiads.
