The Institute for Strategic Studies and Prognoses (ISSP) successfully organized the national finals of the 2026 Economics Olympiad, bringing together the highest-performing students from the school round to compete for a place on Montenegro’s national team.
The finalists first completed an advanced economics examination before working in teams on a case study, where they analyzed a real-world economic challenge and presented their solutions before an expert jury. Their presentations demonstrated a high level of analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply economic concepts to practical policy and business challenges.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Jadranka Kaluđerović, Program Director at ISSP, Dr. Marijana Mitrović, Director of the Financial Stability, Research and Statistics Department at the Central Bank of Montenegro, and Ms. Tatjana Ćalasan, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.
The finalists were evaluated by an expert jury composed of Prof. Jadranka Kaluđerović, Dr. Marijana Mitrović, and Prof. Maja Drakić, Dean of the Faculty of International Economics, Finance and Business at the University of Donja Gorica.
Following the competition, the five highest-ranked students were selected to represent Montenegro at the International Economics Olympiad, which will take place in Athens this summer. There, they will compete alongside outstanding students from more than 30 countries worldwide.
The Economics Olympiad provides students with an exceptional opportunity to deepen their understanding of economics, develop critical thinking and teamwork skills, and apply their knowledge in an international academic environment. Beyond the competition itself, it encourages curiosity, innovation, and engagement with real-world economic issues.
ISSP congratulates all finalists on their excellent achievements and wishes the Montenegrin team every success at the International Economics Olympiad.
The Economics Olympiad in Montenegro is organized by the Institute for Strategic Studies and Prognoses (ISSP) with the support of the Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI), the Central Bank of Montenegro, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, and the University of Donja Gorica, whose partnership continues to strengthen economic education and financial literacy among young people in Montenegro.
